The Ridge Pinehurst Puts Safety First When Opening $190 Million Senior Living Community | Oct. 2020
The Ridge Pinehurst, the area’s newest senior living community in Jefferson County, is officially open and has begun welcoming its more than 300 new residents. The much-anticipated opening of the $190 million community is happening right in the middle of a worldwide pandemic that is impacting the senior population the most.
“We’ve faced many changes and protocols over the last few months as we neared the opening date of The Ridge Pinehurst,” said Mandy Hampton, chief operating officer of The Ridge Senior Living. “We knew that we owed it to our future residents to continue moving forward with construction, and they’ve been understanding and gracious to all of us.”
The Ridge Pinehurst, which broke ground in 2017, is located on 18 acres at 7205 West Quincy Avenue in Lakewood. The luxury senior living community offers 180 independent living apartment homes, 96 assisted living apartments and 49 memory care apartment homes with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains, Marston Lake and downtown Denver.
The community offers a wide range of activities each month and amenities that promote the independent and flexible lifestyle of residents, including indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, multiple dining venues, art studio and theater room, and an indoor heated pool and spa.
The first residents, including Pat O’Connell, say the activities as well as the safety protocols are top of mind for her as she begins to unpack her boxes on move-in day. “It’s nice to know they’re taking extra precautions to keep all of us in good health.,” said O’Connell. “For me, I can’t wait to enjoy the pool and aerobics exercises and meet new neighbors. It’s something I didn’t get to enjoy recently when I was at home.”
Like many companies, The Ridge Pinehurst is enforcing extra precautions in this time of COVID-19. These include restricted access to one main entrance, temperature checks before entering, and utilizing Accushield to conduct contact tracing.
“It’s important to us that our residents, their families and our staff feel safe when entering The Ridge Pinehurst,” said Hampton. She, along her team, have spent the last seven months working to make sure the 400,000-square-foot community would open before the end of the year. “We had to be very creative. This includes launching virtual events, keeping the construction site safe, and working with the city and county on inspections,” she continues.
The Ridge Pinehurst partnered with Denver-based companies Shaw Construction and Lantz-Boggio Architects to execute the project, which will offer an estimated 200 jobs in the Lakewood area.
