Piles of lumber, tons of nails and stacks of paint cans are all just a sampling of what is needed to complete the area’s newest upscale senior living community, The Ridge Pinehurst. The $185 million new development is expected to be completed later this year. It will offer independent living, assisted living and memory support on one campus, all complemented by wide-ranging amenities and services. The Ridge Pinehurst is in high demand with area seniors, with only 55 of the 222 independent living residences still available.

On Thursday, September 12, more than 300 future and prospective residents got their first look inside The Ridge Pinehurst and placed their votes for design items that will be used every day. From the menu covers for the food and the uniforms worn by the team members to the custom vehicles purchased by the community, the residents will decide the look and feel of many elements of the community.

“Even though The Ridge Pinehurst isn’t open yet, excitement for the future is certainly building,” said Mandy Hampton, chief operating officer of The Ridge Senior Living. “The uniqueness of this rental senior living community has shown to be a huge differentiator for our residents. Because of these options, we’ve seen a great deal of interest from area seniors and their family members, with inquiries coming in daily as the transformation continues to take shape.”

The Ridge Pinehurst is being constructed on 19 acres at 7205 West Quincy Avenue in Lakewood, near the intersection of West Quincy Avenue and South Pierce Way. The Ridge Pinehurst partnered with Denver-based companies Shaw Construction and Lantz-Boggio Architects to execute the project. They’ve hired more than 150 employees, most of them from the Denver area, to complete the project. Once open, The Ridge Pinehurst will bring 175 jobs to the area.

The Ridge Pinehurst is expected to help fill a crucial senior services gap in Lakewood and the surrounding western suburbs. According to a recent report by the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 16 percent of the Jefferson County population has already reached age 65 and older, a number that will continue to climb as the Baby Boomers age.

The Ridge Pinehurst residents will enjoy an active, independent lifestyle complete with resort-style services and amenities. Future residents will be among the first to walk on the more than 15,000 square yards of carpet that will be installed throughout the community. The 140,000 square feet of common areas were built with more than 2.5 tons of nails and screws. In addition to the estimated 15,000 gallons of paint, 55,000 square yards of wall tile will be used to cover the interior walls of the building. It will house amenities such as indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, an indoor heated pool and Jacuzzi®, resistance pool, art studio and theater room, hair salon and multiple dining venues.

When all phases are complete, it will consist of 222 independent living apartment homes, 96 assisted living apartments and 42 memory care apartment homes. The community will offer residents spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains, Marston Lake and downtown Denver.

“The Ridge Pinehurst is sure to be a beautiful community with a rich culture of people,” said Hampton. “We’re not surprised residences are filling up so quickly. Future residents have been inviting their friends from out of state to come join them here and live at The Ridge Pinehurst. It’s going to be a community that feels more like a family.”
