Installing COVID-19 Fighting Technology in All Communities | Jan. 2021

The Ridge Senior Living is excited to announce the installation of the Auto-Cleaning Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization (NPBI) System that will be used throughout all of its communities. The half-million-dollar technology will be used to clean indoor air and has been proven to deactivate viruses, including COVID-19. The installation will make The Ridge Senior Living the first senior living communities in Utah and Colorado to use this technology throughout their entire communities.

“The safety and security of everyone who lives, works and visits The Ridge Senior Living is of the utmost importance to us,” said Mandy Hampton, chief operating officer of The Ridge Senior Living. “Over the course of the last year, we’ve seen the senior living business transform and revamp what it means to keep seniors safe and connected with their loved ones during a worldwide pandemic. The Ridge Senior Living is proud to be on the cutting-edge of this technology.”

The NPBI System by Global Plasma Solutions purifies the air by eliminating airborne particles, odors, pathogens, mold, allergens and smoke. The technology cleans the air inside the building by using an electronic charge to create a plasma field filled with a high concentration of ions. As these ions travel with the air stream, they attach and deactivates particles, pathogens and gases by robbing them of life-sustaining hydrogen and achieving a 99.4% reduction of the surface strain within 30 minutes.

The system’s will be in the roof tops and in the fan coils that pump air into each room. The installation will be done at each the multiple dining venues; art studio and theater room; in all common spaces; and in each resident apartment at all three of the senior living communities.

“This system will give our residents and staff a sense of security as they’ll know when they walk into our community, they will be breathing easier and better with the clean air,” said Hampton. “We hope this installation will allow us the opportunity to have family visits and normalcy back in our community faster.”

Lohmiller & Company is the supplier. Gunther Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing will be doing the system installation in the Utah communities, which is expected to be completed by early January. Pinkard Construction will finish the installation at The Ridge Pinehurst by late-January. They will join the ranks of notable installations including Google, Harvard University, and even The White House.
